We are excited to announce a curated educational journey for immersive, hands-on learning about world history!  This week-long journey will cover the most impactful locations in and around London, England. Homeschoolers ages 10-18 are welcome to apply to attend. After completing this journey, parents may assign educational credit in the topics of World History, British Literature, British Art & Architecture, and/or United Kingdom Social Studies. Overview:

Experiencing World History: London, U.K.

A hands-on, immersive and experiential week-long learning journey for junior high and high school students presented by Masterpoint.   This class presents British History, British Literature, and British Art, Architecture & Culture in a real and practical way by physically visiting the locations where history took place. On the tour students will be taken to historically significant locations and explore museums pertaining to the events.   Participation in this tour is suggested for high school students and mature middle school students. This is an activity packed trip that will explore World History thematically. Following the trip the students will be able to identify the major aspects of British History, Culture, Attitude, and Innovation.

What’s included: admission tickets to museums, productions, attractions, guided tours, etc., and 1:3 tutor/student ratio.   

Itinerary: Students will explore London, England and surrounding areas.    

  Day 1: Visit the White Cliffs of Dover, a symbol of England that appears in literature, art, and song, English Channel, St. Augustine's Abbey where Augustine, a missionary from Rome, baptized the pagan King Ethelbert of Ken as the first Anglo-Saxon monarch converted to Christianity, and Canterbury Cathedral world heritage site and stunning example of Gothic architecture, stained glass windows dating to the 12th century, and seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury.  Day 2: Utilizing a transport boat sailing the Thames River, explore England's Painted Hall in the Old Royal Naval College (England's Sistine Chapel of Baroque style), and the Tower Bridge, one of the most recognizable gothic towers in the world since 1894 and the Tower of London, UNESCO World Heritage Site built by William the Conqueror in the 1070s and home to the Crown Jewels and the world famous Beefeater guards, finishing the day with a stylized performance of Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.  Day 3: Dive into London's royal history by visiting Kensington Palace, the childhood home of Queen Victories, Buckingham Palace, the administrative center of the British Monarchy, and Westminster Abbey, the spiritual home of British royal events and the location of every crowning of an English ruler since 1066.  Day 4: Experience the history of not only Britain, but the whole world at the British History Museum when you immerse yourself in two million years of human history, art, and culture.  Day 5: Have a true English experience by touring the stadium of England's premiere soccer league, Arsenal, and finish the evening with a breathtaking trip on the London Eye, an architectural marvel and Europe’s tallest cantilevered Observation Wheel.  Day 6: Visit Windsor Castle, the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world, and Stonehenge, the mysterious standing stones that have inspired mystery for ages.  Read:  Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare  A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens  Watch:  Oliver!
